The Environ Cool Peel Technology is a revolutionary approach in skin peeling. It is designed to exfoliate the skin gently and effectively without causing damage to the skin barrier. Unlike traditional chemical peels, which can sometimes cause irritation and discomfort, Cool Peels are formulated with lower concentrations of active ingredients, making them suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin. The cool peel uses lactic acid cream or gel in different concentrates (depending on the skin condition being treated) along with other beneficial ingredients such as vitamins A and C to remove dead skin cells, unclog pores, and promote cellular turnover.
Followed by an Alginate Masque, (which is the “cool” aspect of the treatment due to its cooling sensation upon application), to assist in normalising your skin’s PH level, as well as a conductive medium if using Iontophoresis, leaving your skin feeling soothed and refreshed.
Environ Cool Peels are often used to address various skin concerns, including acne, uneven skin tone, fine lines, and dullness or just an overall skin rejuventation. New to skin peeling – you can’t go wrong with an Environ Cool Peel!
Cool Peels are adaptable and therefore suitable for a wide range of individuals with various skin types and concerns. They can be particularly beneficial for:
1. Sensitive skin:
2. Improving skin texture and tone
3. Acneic skin;
4. Hyperpigmentation and sun damage
5. Aging
Even if you don’t have specific skin concerns, Cool Peels can help refresh and revitalize your skin – it’s like having a relaxing facial yet all the while having a professional cosmeceutical grade skin treatment.
While a Cool Peel is generally safe there are some situations that may make the procedure unsafe or increase the risk of complications that may prevent you from having the treatment. These are:
1. Recent Sun Exposure:
2. Active Skin Infections:
3. Pregnancy
4. Recent Chemical Peel or Cosmetic Procedures
5. Certain Medications.
6. Skin Disorders or Sensitivities
8.Allergies or Sensitivities
A Cool Peel works by applying a specially formulated lactic acid cream or gel solution to the skin. It is then left on for a period of time (normally between 10 – 20 mins depending on skin condition) or if using the gel solution, can also be layered to achieve a deeper, stronger peel. During this time, the active ingredients in the solution work to break down the bonds between dead skin cells, allowing them to be sloughed away more easily. The unique feature of a cool peel is that they are focused on skin regeneration, not skin destruction as is normally the case for more aggressive peeling systems.
Cool peels are designed to modify the strength of the peel by either changing the strength of the acid or length of the time the peel is left on the skin.
Overall, an Environ Cool Peel should feel refreshing and rejuvenating. The experience can vary from person to person, but generally, it should be comfortable and well-tolerated by most individuals. You might expect:
1. Cooling Sensation
2. Mild, Warm Tingling Sensation
3. No Pain or Discomfort
4. Relaxing Experience
Pre-care:
Avoid Sun Exposure: Minimize sun exposure for one week before your scheduled treatment. Sunburned or tanned skin is more sensitive.
Discontinue Certain Skincare Products: Discontinue the use of any skincare products containing retinoids, alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta hydroxy acids (BHAs), or other exfoliating agents for three days before the procedure, as they can increase skin sensitivity.
Let Us Know: If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have any active skin conditions, infections, or recent cosmetic procedures in the treatment area, don’t forget to let us know so we can reschedule or postpone your treatment.
Post-care:
Gentle Cleansing: Cleanse your skin gently with a mild, non-irritating cleanser for the first 24 to 48 hours following the treatment. Avoid harsh scrubbing or abrasive cleansers that could further irritate the skin.
Moisturize: Apply a gentle, hydrating moisturizer to the treated area to soothe and hydrate the skin. Look for products with ingredients like hyaluronic acid, ceramides, and soothing botanical extracts. Avoid use of topical products containing AHAs, BHAs and Retinols, for three (3) days
post treatmentAvoid Sun Exposure: Protect your skin from sun exposure by wearing a broad-spectrum sunscreen , even on cloudy days. Try to avoid direct sunlight and wear protective clothing, hats, and sunglasses when outdoors.
Use Mineral Makeup: Mineral makup is lighter and more breathable than traditional makeup as well as being non-comedogenic, meaning it won’t clog your pores. This is particularly important after a peel when your skin can be more sensitive and prone to breakouts.
Stay Hydrated and Maintain Healthy Habits: Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and maintain a healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and antioxidants to promote overall skin health.
Follow-Up Treatments: Schedule your next treatment to achieve optimal results.
The downtime associated with Environ Cool Peel treatments is generally minimal, and many individuals are able to resume their regular activities immediately following the procedure. However, there are a few factors to consider regarding potential downtime:
Skin Sensitivity: Some individuals may experience mild redness, sensitivity, or flushing immediately after the treatment, particularly if their skin is sensitive or reactive. This is usually temporary and typically resolves within a few hours to a day.
Sun Sensitivity: Environ Cool Peels treatments can temporarily increase the skin’s sensitivity to sunlight. It’s essential to protect your skin from UV exposure by wearing sunscreen and avoiding direct sun exposure in the days following the treatment.
Avoiding Certain Activities: While there is generally no need for downtime after Environ Cool Peels, it’s advisable to avoid activities or treatments that could potentially irritate or compromise the skin’s barrier function in the immediate aftermath. This may include intense physical activities, hot baths or showers, saunas, and harsh skincare products.
Follow-Up Care: Following any post-care instructions provided by your skincare professional can help minimize the risk of adverse reactions and maximize the benefits of the treatment. This may include specific guidelines for skincare products, sun protection, and lifestyle activities in the days following the treatment.
Overall, the downtime associated with Environ Cool Peel treatments is minimal for most individuals, and any potential side effects are usually mild and transient. However, it’s essential to follow any pre-care and post-care instructions provided to ensure the best possible outcomes and minimize the risk of complications.
The frequency of Environ Cool Peel treatments can vary depending on several factors, including your skin type and specific concerns being addressed.
Initial Treatment Series: If you are new to Environ Cool Peel treatments or seeking to address specific skin concerns, your initial treatment series typically consists of multiple sessions spaced apart at regular intervals, such as once every 1-4 weeks. The exact number of sessions and frequency may vary depending on the severity of your skin concerns and your skin’s response to the treatments.
Maintenance Treatments: Once you have completed the initial treatment series, maintenance treatments may be recommended to help maintain the results and continue improving the health and appearance of your skin over time. Maintenance treatments are typically spaced further apart than initial treatments and may be scheduled every 4-6 weeks or as needed based on your individual skincare needs.
Combination with Other Treatments: Environ Cool Peel treatments can be combined with other skincare treatments and modalities to enhance their effectiveness and address multiple skin concerns simultaneously. Our favourite is the Healite II LED which is fantastic for stimulating collagen and elastin production, instantly plumping the skin leaving it feeling tight as a drum as well as diminishing acne and post trauma healing.
Skin Condition and Response: The frequency of Environ Cool Peel treatments may also be influenced by your skin’s condition and response to the treatments. If you have particularly sensitive or reactive skin, spacing out treatments more gradually to minimize the risk of irritation or adverse reactions is advised.
Long-Term Skincare Plan: We will work with you to develop a personalized long-term skincare plan that includes an appropriate home care routine. This plan will take into account your individual skin concerns, lifestyle factors, and treatment preferences to ensure optimal results and long-term skin health.
