A Vitamin Infusion treatment uses the Environ Electro-sonic DF technolgy which is an advanced skincare procedure that utlises a combination of electrical currents (Iontophoresis) and sound waves (Sonophoresis) to enhance the penetration and efficacy of active ingredients, delivering a higher concentration of vitamins and other beneficial ingredients directly into the skin to nourish, hydrate, repair and rejuvenate. Treatments can use both or either or of the technologies.
Vitamin infusions are adaptable using different active ingredients and serums and are therefore suitable for a wide range of individuals with various skin types and concerns. They can be particularly beneficial for:
1. Aging
2. Uneven skin tone and texture
3. Dryness or Dehydration
4. Addressing acne and sensitivities
5. Preventative maintenance and rejuventation
Sonophoresis – if you have ear damage, ear infections, hearing implants or tinnitus then you should consult your medical practioner prior to treatment.
Iontophoresis – there are a number of contraindications for iontophoresis. These include:
Cold Sores (Active Herpes Simplex)
Open cuts and abrasions
Sinusitis
Pregnancy & Breast feeding
Epilepsy
Excessive metalic fillings or metal implants
Sunburn in the treatment area
Pacemaker
Angina or Arrhythimia
Botox or Dermal Fillers within the prior week
The treatment involves the use of low-frequency electrical currents, which help to stimulate and energise the skin cells, known as Iontophoresis. Iontophoresis is a transdermal deliver system using electric currents that help the active ingredients penetrate deeper into the dermal layer of the skin (the second layer of the skin, not visible to the eyes). It works on ions, what are water-soluable substances, that have either a postive or negative charge.
An additional technique, known as Sonophoresis, sound waves, are employed to create pathways through the skin allowing for a higher concentration and penetration of active ingredients to deeper layers of the skin. It disrupts the skin lipid barrier through ultrasound vibrations momentarily creating little spaces in the skin.
The experience of Environ Vitamin Infusion can vary from person to person, and also depends whether you are doing iontophoresis and sonophoresis together or individually.
Iontophoresis will deliver a tingling sensation from the electrical current and may see a flickering light in your eyes when being treated around the eye and forehead area. If using iontophoresis with the alginate masque to complete the treatment, you may also experience initial flickering in the masque as well. It is generally not disturbing and most people forget about it soon after the treatment commences. It is important to let your clinician know if the treatment is uncomfortable so that settings can be adjusted. In addition to the flickering, most clients experience a metallic taste in their mouth when the probe is in use however this subsides immediately after us.
Sonophoresis will deliver a warm relaxing sensation as the probe slides across your face and you will light sound waves during the treatment however this is not disturbing and most people forget about it soon after the treatment commences.
Pre-care:
Avoid Sun Exposure: Minimize sun exposure for one week before your scheduled treatment. Sunburned or tanned skin is more sensitive.
Discontinue Certain Skincare Products: Discontinue the use of any skincare products containing retinoids, alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta hydroxy acids (BHAs), or other exfoliating agents for three days before the procedure, as they can increase skin sensitivity.
Let Us Know: If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have any active skin conditions, infections, or recent cosmetic procedures in the treatment area, don’t forget to let us know so we can reschedule or postpone your treatment.
Post-care:
Gentle Cleansing: Cleanse your skin gently with a mild, non-irritating cleanser for the first 24 to 48 hours following the treatment. Avoid harsh scrubbing or abrasive cleansers that could further irritate the skin.
Moisturize: Apply a gentle, hydrating moisturizer to the treated area to soothe and hydrate the skin. Look for products with ingredients like hyaluronic acid, ceramides, and soothing botanical extracts. Avoid use of topical products containing AHAs, BHAs and Retinols, for three (3) days post treatment
Avoid Sun Exposure: Protect your skin from sun exposure by wearing a broad-spectrum sunscreen , even on cloudy days. Try to avoid direct sunlight and wear protective clothing, hats, and sunglasses when outdoors.
Use Mineral Makeup: Mineral makup is lighter and more breathable than traditional makeup as well as being non-comedogenic, meaning it won’t clog your pores. This is particularly important after a peel when your skin can be more sensitive and prone to breakouts.
Stay Hydrated and Maintain Healthy Habits: Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and maintain a healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and antioxidants to promote overall skin health.
Follow-Up Treatments: Schedule your next treatment to achieve optimal results.
The downtime associated with Environ Vitamin Infusion treatments is generally minimal, and many individuals are able to resume their regular activities immediately following the procedure. However, there are a few factors to consider regarding potential downtime:
Skin Sensitivity: Some individuals may experience mild redness, sensitivity, or flushing immediately after the treatment, particularly if their skin is sensitive or reactive. This is usually temporary and typically resolves within a few hours to a day.
Sun Sensitivity: Environ Vitamin Infusion treatments can temporarily increase the skin’s sensitivity to sunlight. It’s essential to protect your skin from UV exposure by wearing sunscreen and avoiding direct sun exposure in the days following the treatment.
Avoiding Certain Activities: While there is generally no need for downtime after Environ Vitamin Infusion, it’s advisable to avoid activities or treatments that could potentially irritate or compromise the skin’s barrier function in the immediate aftermath. This may include intense physical activities, hot baths or showers, saunas, and harsh skincare products.
Follow-Up Care: Following any post-care instructions provided by your skincare professional can help minimize the risk of adverse reactions and maximize the benefits of the treatment. This may include specific guidelines for skincare products, sun protection, and lifestyle activities in the days following the treatment.
Overall, the downtime associated with Environ Vitamin Infusion treatments is minimal for most individuals, and any potential side effects are usually mild and transient. However, it’s essential to follow any pre-care and post-care instructions provided to ensure the best possible outcomes and minimize the risk of complications.
The frequency of Environ Vitamin Infusion treatments can vary depending on several factors, including your skin type and specific concerns being addressed.
Initial Treatment Series: If you are new to Environ Vitamin Infusion treatments or seeking to address specific skin concerns, your initial treatment series typically consists of multiple sessions spaced apart at regular intervals, such as once every 1-4 weeks. The exact number of sessions and frequency may vary depending on the severity of your skin concerns and your skin’s response to the treatments.
Maintenance Treatments: Once you have completed the initial treatment series, maintenance treatments may be recommended to help maintain the results and continue improving the health and appearance of your skin over time. Maintenance treatments are typically spaced further apart than initial treatments and may be scheduled every 4-6 weeks or as needed based on your individual skincare needs.
Combination with Other Treatments: Environ Vitamin Infusion treatments can be combined with other skincare treatments and modalities to enhance their effectiveness and address multiple skin concerns simultaneously. Our favourite is the Healite II LED which is fantastic for stimulating collagen and elastin production, instantly plumping the skin leaving it feeling tight as a drum as well as diminishing acne and post trauma healing.
Skin Condition and Response: The frequency of Environ Vitamin Infusion treatments may also be influenced by your skin’s condition and response to the treatments. If you have particularly sensitive or reactive skin, spacing out treatments more gradually to minimize the risk of irritation or adverse reactions is advised.
Long-Term Skincare Plan: We will work with you to develop a personalized long-term skincare plan that includes an appropriate home care routine. This plan will take into account your individual skin concerns, lifestyle factors, and treatment preferences to ensure optimal results and long-term skin health.
